Low quota attainment, drop in headcount? Seems ripe for DataRobot to get acquired. Is an IPO still even possible?

When I worked there, low quota attainment was specific to their enterprise team. The commercial team consistently outperformed and roughly 70-80% of the sellers were achieving quota.

The drop in headcount started last spring with the economic shift, then continued into the fall. Growth has been conservative since.

That being said, the larger issues at DR are due to leadership turnover and well deserved bad press last year. The sales leadership primarily comes from the MEDDIC and John McMahon lineage and they're very proud of that. Last year, the CRO who hired many of those people left abruptly.  A few months later, the C-team was embroiled in a stock option scandal, including the Chief GTM leader. During this chaos, an early investor and a key AI leader both left and joined the chorus of anti-DR press. A cascade of key leader departures have followed, many whose teams either followed or left, too. This goes for both sales and the technical side of the house.

Most of the chaos has settled and I think acquisition is eminent.  The board, exec team, and investors signed on thinking they were joining the next snowflake. With a big IPO payday being unlikely for a few years, I bet they sell.

Well said below. Don't think about going to the Enterprise team unless you know exactly what accounts you will get, make sure you have several happy customers, get a long ramp-up period with draw, etc.

Very little chance. PE if they can get investors money back.
