From what I've read in the industry, Rubrik & Cohesity seem to be displacing Commvault pretty regularly due to innovation, complexity and poor support.

Thoughts on this?

Definitely not to Cohesity as the other answer stated. For a competitive displacement its common for Rubrik & Commvault to be the final 2 vendors considered. Commvault takeouts for Rubrik are pretty rare - most takeouts are from Dell, Veritas (now Cohesity), Veeam, Druva, and Native Backup Tools for Public Cloud. Ironically there has been a massive uptick in Rubrik takeouts in favor of Commvault due to customer's feedback for having an in-flexible architecture and licensing terms, along with limited workload support.

That was definitely true 1.5-2 years ago, much less now. Every deal we compete in seems to come down to Commvault and Rubrik. Cohesity seems to be struggling. Our (CV) tech is better suited to cloud than theirs, and we've innovated in ways that complete our cyber story and open up new revenue streams.

Support does seem to be lagging sales a bit, and as an SE I occasionally have to nudge/escalate, but no more than any other company.

Cohesity and Rubrik are great marketing machines. However, they can't touch a fraction of the capabilities (especially worklaods) Commvault can. Cohesity also is in the middle of eating a whale (Veritas). Commvault's SaaS offering is also significantly better than Rubrik or Cohesity's offering.

No to Cohesity, Rubrik is always in deals but if you run plays correct it is pretty easy to beat them out.
