How does the onboarding and training process at Appian Corporation prepare new sales team members, and did you feel adequately equipped for your role?

Candidly, Appian's onboarding process is pretty similar to other firms in terms of overall timeline. However, I'd say Appian's is pretty mediocre from a sales perspective as they focus heavily on the "how to" regarding administrative and operative tasks in working with internal resources versus actual foundational sales concepts. I found the onboarding more tailored to a new salesperson versus a veteran and very substandard at that. Also..and to be blunt, since Appian severely  lacks sales leadership, they lean heavily on outside firms (ValueSelling, Case Studies, etc.) in presenting any kind of sales training. If you're new to tech sales...you might find this adequate for the role. If you're a veteran tech salesperson... it's a waste of time.

No. Do not work at this company, nice people but GTM strategy and training is horrible.   I repeat if you are in sales and want to grow your career, do not work here.

Don’t work here. They do not care about their employees or their customers. They will screw you over with quota, territory, and commission any chance they can. 
Just a couple of months ago, clients were asking their AEs about the financial stability of the company before signing deals.

Onboarding was about 3 weeks, followed by a Value Selling intensive and certification. However, policies around pricing, GTM strategy, and even the products have changed in the past year. So what was presented in my onboarding in July 2023 is not very relevant any longer.

You learn about the product. That’s pretty much it. If you’re new to sales, you’re on your own. If you’re in pub sec, might as well skip that week they don’t even acknowledge anything nor are aware of how that industry works.
