What is the typical timeline from a DGR to an AE or equivalent AM role?

Have about 2 years of full cycle AE experience outside the tech space as well as 8 months of SDR experience at a fairly large and well know software company?

It changes from country to country and segment to segment, but I'd say that 2 years is about the average. could be a bit less if you have substantial relevant experience and a position gets becomes available at just the right time.

It depends on a variety of factors (performance, internal network, open headcount etc.), but 'fast' would be ~12 months, average is 18-24 months, and for some folks it takes 24-36 months. Prestigious segments (Enterprise, ISV) will take longer than less desirable segments (SMB, Greenfield).

I would say 1-2 years from what I have seen. Since you have closing experience, you could be more towards the 1 year if you get off to a hot start in the DGR role.

It should take 18 - 24 months to move from a DG to CSC (inside sales) position, assuming your performance is solid and you are networking with CSC managers.

DGR to AE track is typically 15-18 months, if you perform. The key is to start tracking success stories as part of your “brag document” so that you can request a promotion.
Also, continue to voice your desire to move up with your manager, and he/she should be a champion for you.
