During my tenure of 1 year on the AE team, I had comp plan changes about every quarter, 3 VPs of Sales, 2 Managers, and close to 20 AEs that were fired, let go, or voluntarily quit the company. By the time of my resignation, I was one of the most tenured AEs on the team after only being at the company for a year. It was difficult to understand how much compensation we would expect to earn due to the constant changes in comp plans every quarter. The leadership was very poor, and there was a time where our VP of Sales was let go and the Co-Founders changed the comp plan over night and made the new comp plan active for the current quarter with 1 month left to go. There was a lot of mistrust within the organization after multiple rounds of layoffs, no transparency within the company, and incentivizing blind loyalty with no inspiration or motivation to do well due to unrealistic expectations. Multiple times, leadership tried to avoid paying AEs out on deals that they closed taking money out of their pockets, and creating an unhealthy work environment with constant disputes over commission payouts.
