Currently an Account Executive at Yelp. This is a high pressure “great isn’t good enough” environment. The small base pay is honestly insulting and after taxes I’m sure isn’t even minimum wage. The account executives that perform above and beyond receive extra territories for them to call with many high score Opp’s. While the new people or people who even barely hit target consistent get small sporadic territories that include many closed businesses. I have been over producing by 10-15K month after month and the commission isn’t enough. I love my coworkers, but leadership and pay definitely need work. I feel employees would be a lot happier if the pressure to close $40-$60K every month was less and if they continue with the pressure, I hope they find a way to more fairly spread out Opps so that can be more achievable for everyone.

Yelp has been an amazing company to work for. Great culture, career growth opportunities, rewarding pay if you are willing to put in the work and more than enough resources to succeed. The people that struggle are not able to get out of their own way, don’t implement feedback and/or have personal habits that prevent them from getting the job done.

I'm still in training but I have definitely did my research and would agree with other former colleagues that it is a dying product and does not have a great market fit.
