Toast is a great place to start cutting your teeth as an AE. If you do well, you do very well. Most AEs clear 200k in their second year. Territory matters highly in this job. Customer support is very weak so while the product is good the longterm happiness of your customers may go down. Restaurant operators are a tricky bunch to sell into. Don’t have a great grasp on ROI or SaaS but for some, that can be great. You get to expense a lot of your meals in your territory which is an added perk!

Toast is a good company. Though their SMB Sales team is a sweat-shop. You will be praised for performing and fired as quickly as a shrug if you don’t. Very little professional development. Used car salesmen will do very well here. If you do well, things are fine if you luck out with one of the nice managers.

I’m relatively new to the org as an Emerging Markets - Spanish AE. It’s best to think of it as a start up department within a well-established sales org. There’s a ton of green space in EM which I love. And if you’re a go-getter with a hunter and challenger mentality I think this is a great role.
