How does the sales compensation plan at Stryker align with your expectations and goals?

This can be very different across different business units and division. That being said, most of the reps in different divisions that I've spoken too are not as happy with the comp plans as they have progressed through the years. The level of difficulty in introducing new product into facilities has gone up while pay has consistently gone down all the while being asked to sell more. Stryker is a great company to learn at, and hone your skills however comp plans have not kept up with increasing market difficulty in deploying products.

Run rate business is key to survival at Stryker.  If you're dependent on capital, the cycles will catch up to you at some point and you'll get canned.  I worked in Endo/SportsMed, but I think Instruments is the best sales gig there and Ortho or Spine is the most interesting as I love the OR clinical aspect of the job.
Comp was straight commission at 10%, so there was great months and bad months.  I make more now in a different OR role and my best month here was better than my best month at Stryker.  Happy to have had the experience, but not sad to have moved on to bigger and better things.  Not everyone fits the culture there, but those that do often find a good home.  If not, then move along and use it as a stepping stone.

Most of the divisions are 100% commission.  Each division pays out typically between 5-11% of total sales back to dollar 1.  The compensation will be directly related to the current run rate of the specific territory you are taking over, with all territories having different pay and different quotas

Instruments is probably the best division as a sales gig (I worked in Endo/Sports) as the run rate keeps you afloat.  Clinically, Ortho and Spine are more interesting and much more stable than capital intensive roles (which eventually catch up to you).  It's a good place to start and a great place to own stock from the EPP.  Most divisions are straight commissions (at least they used to be 5+ years ago when I was there) and you can do well, but you're also subject to territory splits and realignments.  Happy for my time there, but happier in a better role now with more success and better overall income.
