What is the sales team culture like at Paycom?

I’d say it’s quite universally micromanaging and fear based. The managers/regionals will just make it so that the degree of each might be different. It doesn’t matter what % to plan you are. Even if you’re a top rep they will still micromanage the hell out of activity metrics

It depends on who your manager/regional VP is. With a handful of leaders, it’s a positive and helpful culture, and they won’t micromanage you as long as you’re doing well. With a lot of other leaders, it’s a fear-based culture and there can be a lot of micromanaging.

Culture is wholly driven by the manager and then regional they work for so it varies greatly across the offices. The pitfalls of a lot of managers that lead to a lot of sales turnover is the lack of any leadership training. This takes good sales reps and puts them in positions they're not prepared to succeed in. That  leads to sales pressure, fear based management, a lot of daily micromanagement, a lack of improvement in these practices over time and quotas that go up 20% YoY exacerbating the issues and usually resulting in management turnover. Having said that, if you have a good manager and you consistently sell then you can likely be treated like an adult and the culture is not bad.

They want winners who are competitive with themselves. People who don’t mind the grind and want to make as much money as possible. It’s pretty simple, I love my teammates and I would call them friends but if work like that isn’t your speed you will be miserable.

Horrible! Of course, it depends which region you’re in but overall, “leaders” here are taught fear based Jordan Belfort style and they’re largely juvenile. They blindly cling to call volume metrics and continue trimming territories so 60% of most teams aren’t hitting quotas. Run away FAST!

I enjoyed my local team who quickly became good friends (aka trauma bonding). We helped/supported each other a lot, but our success was mixed despite similar tactics & efforts. Always felt like upper leadership looked down on us as if we were lazy idiots if we weren’t absolutely crushing it.
