What is the culture like within the sales team at Paycom?

Dependent on team and bosses but overall, awful, juvenile , high pressure and fear based. Essentially if a company has 0% vest in your company match 401k until 2 years, pretty clear. 1st year turnover is like 75% and they clawback commissions like Scrooge.

Culture varies hugely between offices and is controlled by the managers. The company has a culture of churn and burn; lots of college grads replaced with other college grads just scorching territories. Ask how tenured the team is, chances are the majority of the reps are new and the office is not at quota. There are  daily/weekly/monthly metrics which are watched like a hawk by all levels of leadership and broadcasted to the company so If you don't hit 1 metric everyone knows and you're shamed- very unrealistic because it doesn't account for any reasonable circumstance ex: if you don't set enough 1st calls because you're closing deals you still didn't set enough meetings. There isn't an amount of  tenure that relieves that so no one is treated like an adult. There's no work/life balance, reps are expected to be available at all hours of the day and reply instantly. It's a soul crushing place but the earning potential is real so if mental health isn't important to you then know what you're signing up for. If you're interviewing the recruiters don't know the job, the regionals largely have no relationship with sales reps so the manager is the most important variable for you.

Extremely corporate culture. Highly dependent on the manager and the office. In speaking with coworkers working out of different offices you would think we worked for different companies, which is surprising because as a company they enforce a very structured schedule for the sales teams.

It’s a culture of winning. Period. We’re here to win deals and make a bunch of money in the process or fail trying. Definitely not for everyone because it can feel cut throat in a competitive space but I’ll say this, you’ll never be worse off from a development or financial perspective after paycom

It is a cult. You grind for years and hit quota but if something personal happens where you can’t grind 7-7 but only grind 8-5 they will micromanage you until you WANT to quit. Everyone is a “family”
