Which would you prefer, being an Account Executive or an Account Manager at Netsuite? How are the Mid Market AEs doing with quota attainment?

the 2024 fiscal year just ended 5/31/24...only 5% of reps on the products team (corporate and mid market combined) hit quota.
that's less than 5 reps out of the 65 on the team...your company is doing something wrong if under 5% of reps are hitting quota. it's an absolute nightmare right now as an account executive. the account managers have easier jobs (theyve told me they arent working past like 5 pm every night...nothing is an emergency, and they dont get NEARLY the same level of pressure as the account executives do) and they get like HALF of  their quota just from renewals (aka, minimal work). if you work for this company you are NOT LIKELY to hit quota as an account executive. keep in mind that every yer, the quota goes up with the commission percentage you receive goes down. I started at 15% and by year 3 I was down to 11% commission. You are essentially guaranteed to be forced to work harder to hit higher quota while simultaneously making less money on deals every year. If youre going to work for this company i would be extremely diligent with the people you are interviewing and asking many, many questions about quota attainment. They will most likely lie to your face but at least youre forcing them to give you an answer. 
if you're gonna do anything, go the account management route. no one is buying anything right now but renewals will always be there.

There was a saying at NetSuite. Mediocre AMs make more than mediocre AEs, but stellar AEs make more than stellar AMs.

From my experience as an AE for two years it definitely seemed like the AM org was the way to go. Bonus if you can get into the Channel AM side. They typically take care of NS customers sold to by channel sellers who are also providing a crazy amount of services already and just tell you as the AM when to write up a new SO to send over and get paid for. I left NS about a month ago, before leaving I heard a lot about the MM organization not doing too hot generally.

MM AEs are barely hitting participation metrics let alone quota.

generally speaking AMs way better in terms of quota attainment over AEs. And I agree on the Channel AMs comment.
In any case, it depends a lot on the territory/region you have been assigned on both AEs/AMs roles.
If I should pick: 1-Channel AMs, 2-AMs.
