Question

Been interviewing with Lacework for an RSM role. Heard in the market about the toxic culture & suboptimal product market fit (compared to Wiz and others that steal lots of the business).

Any comments from people that has been around for a while? Has the culture improved? Will Wiz take the lead?

Run. 25 RSMs laid off, entire SDR org reduced by 80%. This is not somewhere you want to be. Extremely toxic work environment.  First heads to go are the new folks

Everything you’ve heard is accurate.  They just did another layoff yesterday and sent good sales folks with active pipelines home with 2 weeks severance.  The product doesn’t work and you’ll lose to wiz 95% of the time, the 5% win rate being when Wiz’ arrogance rubs the customer the wrong way.

I recently left a few months ago. The culture was toxic, frat house, haves and have nots etc.. combined with terrible management from the C level executives all the way down throughout the company. The strategy was to continually shout that LW tech was the best in the industry and arrogantly dismiss competitors such as Wiz. Whilst Wiz continued to disrtupt the space and capture the enterprise, Lacework chose to run an outdated sales process that made it extremely difficult for customers to try and use the product. Competitors such as Wiz and Orca have better tech and are focused on a PLG strategy and that is why they are dominating.

Lacework would need a true miracle to turn it around.

I got an email alert and saw this question- and felt obligated to reply.  Happy to see other people feel the same way... I agree with everything said prior.  Also- I just got note from a friend still there that as of today they laid off a massive number of field reps and inside sales reps.  Wiz was taking over the space when I left a  year ago and I would put money on Lacework not catching up ever given these major cultural and leadership issues.  This is one rocket ship I would NOT hop on.

The culture has not improved, in fact it’s gotten worse. Also, they just did another round of layoffs.

There was a significant layoff in May 2022, followed by another layoff in June. (burn rate is insane) The rocket ship is now without fuel due to inept leadership and is heading towards Earth in a big crash. Nobody is meeting their quotas, and the business lacks consistency. I left six months ago, but they still haven't reached a 100 ARR and have a high customer churn rate. It's ironic because internally people were so arrogant after receiving the funding round, believing that Wiz was not a concern. However, Wiz has already achieved over 200 million ARR within two and a half years.
