For my role, the only quota bearing device is vessel sealer, rest is based on total procedure number. Vessel sealer is hard to sell because you’re selling against another da Vinci product most of the time with a higher cost and not much value to the surgeon. Additionally, as a female I have faced sexism from my team/leadership. They have tried to weed out this “boys club” mentality from the company but it still exists although not in every territory, greatly depends on the leadership of area. Compensation incentive is not enough to get motivated sometimes, bonus checks only vary a few hundred dollars if you had a really good quarter vs average quarter There is a lot of resources for development but many of the promotions are based on who knows who and sometimes sheer luck if a good opportunity fell in their lap. They seem to hire a lot of clinical territory associates knowing there won’t be a spot for them for upwards mobility, getting them to do the grunt work for 60k a year but dangling the promotion carrot in front of them. Some territories are heavily saturated robotically and make quotas hard to hit
