Experience not good as an associate. No clear path to promotion and a lot of internal nepotism. Best professional development you’ll find in med device. But if you don’t inject the culture into your veins you wont last. They only want reps who break out in tears when they talk about the robot, or else they push you out and start their psy-ops attack. Toxic leadership allowed to scorch earth.

While it may seem like there is plenty of opportunity for upward mobility, promotions are more about who you know rather than whether you are actually good at your current job and would be good in the promoted role. They say the right things but the actions don’t match the words.

For my role, the only quota bearing device is vessel sealer, rest is based on total procedure number. Vessel sealer is hard to sell because you’re selling against another da Vinci product most of the time with a higher cost and not much value to the surgeon. The good: PRODUCT - Disruptive technology that changes lives. Most enjoyable job I’ve had. The bad: Culture is incredibly demanding. Not for everyone. All depends who your manager is. Comp plan gets increasingly complex each year, while effectively paying less.
