Hey Everyone! I am currently interviewing for Dialpad. The base salary seems to be lower than what other tech companies are offering, but in my previous role only 5% of the org actually hit their OTE. So I am just wondering:- 
- How many people are actually hitting quota?  Is it achievable? Thanks!

In terms of quota attainment, the answer changes based on what segment you are applying for. Historically, SMB and Midmarket have each had a lot of success. In 2023, however, only 2 SMB reps hit their annual number (out of over 40 reps). The company has over-hired and marketing hasn’t kept up.

Only 10 out of what I think is 42 reps in SMB hit 100% attainment last quarter.  12 hit 90% or better.  14 hit 80% or better.  If you hit 80% of your number, you don't get 80% of your variable.  They have a decellerator for not hitting quota equally thorought the quarter.  They call it the liniearity bonus, but it is only a bonus for those who hit their quota equally thorought the quarter.  It's a 12.5% hit.  It's basically a way to give extra money to reps hitting 100% equally (month by month) thorought the quarter without actually costing the company money because they're taking the money away from other reps.  It probably actually saves the company money and allows them to artifically inflate the OTE even higher to appear more competitive in attracting talent with something that a majority of reps don't hit.

What role are you applying for?

Historically it is a little lower but I think it's worth it -- the culture is incredible (go to LinkedIn and see how many people started as SDRs and grew within the company to various roles -- marketing, enablement, SMB AE, MM AE, sales engineering -- they care a lot about the people. The product is innovative and really solid too.

I've maybe missed two or three quarters. I hit 1 of my 2 years for my annual target (missed year two by only a few percentage points). If you come ready to learn, grow, and work hard, you will be rewarded no doubt.

I would go to say close to half (might be a little overestimate) hit their targets.

For sure achievable no doubt!
