What is the comp plan like?  Is it only consumption-based?

Comp is mostly ACV right now but moving towards consumption next year. Current plan you only get half your commission % rate when 0-50% of your number. Well over 50% of reps won’t get to 50% of their number this year. Also, no quota relief for on-prem software but still pushed to sell it.

One of the worst I have seen. As has been mentioned about 20% will hit quota this year and about 50% wont hit 50% of their quota. The way comp plans are structured means that 50% not hitting 50% of quota will see about 25% of their variable component. You essentially need a whale and if you don't get that each year, you barely see any variable pay

Like any public company striving for profitability while at the same time pivoting to consumption, comp plans are getting tighter and the chance of success is almost entirely predicated on territory. You need to have accounts that are committed to SaaS adoption (e.g. Confluent Cloud). Rumour has it the '24 plan will be completely consumption based and the company is defining how to apply a consumption model for self-managed deployments which are still a huge chunk of product sold.
