How would you describe the sales culture at Classy.org?

Culture is really built on micro management. At least in sales, but I assume that flows throughout. Lots of great people there but expectation for first line management is to micro manage your people.

It's hard to say what the current sales culture is at Classy. The Nov 2, 2023 RIF included over 50% of the AE, xDR, and customer growth teams. People at the top of the leader board and those who had been there over 5 years were included in the layoff. Giving for the nonprofit industry as a whole is down for the past 12-18 months. Classy's solution is the most expensive in the category so only about 30% of the AE team from this year was hitting quota.

Culture on the sales team is definitely heavy on micro-management. To the point that leaders post KPI updates (including cold calls, emails and social touches) in team slack channels multiple times a day.

I wouldn't call it "toxic" per se but the culture has some element of that. Micromanagement, unrealistic sales goals, and KPI's. AE's are glorified BDR's. The ever-looming threat of being put on a PIP if you don't hit your number. Decent sales enablement program but nothing in place for those who are struggling. There is always an element of the veteran AE's who have been there for a number of years vs. the new AE's who were hired in recent years. Hard to get past that "us vs. them" feeling. Very noticeable on the management side as well.
