Received an offer from AWS as a DGR and it says the role is paid "hourly."

Is that normal? I'm currently paid a salary in my SDR role.

The whole comp plan looks normal (Base+Bonus+Commission = $150k)

I find the hourly part odd and even a little bit concerning—am I overthinking it?

Yes, DGRs are all paid hourly at AWS. They'll give you grief to ensure you finish everything in the appropriate amount of time. Really don't like paying overtime, management is goaled on keeping DGRs from booking OT. But otherwise, it's not an issue. You'll be eligible for progressions into salaried roles after about 2 years (as long as you're a reasonably high performer).

It's normal and theres no way getting around it.  Youre entering the org as an L4 which is predominantly hourly in the DGR role.  So yes its hourly, so treat it that way.  40 hours log em on the timecard and log out, and the best part is if you work OT youre eligible for time and half.  Includes business travel used to rack up OT by getting out into the field.  Don't overthink it youll be fine.

Don’t forget that hourly means you’ll get paid for overtime, so ride that get gravy train while you can!

They bump you up to salary once you AE.

This is standard from my experience (Oracle had the same structure for their BDRs).

This is standard....most DGR/SDR roles are paid hourly these days.

I believe role is coded as L4, requires logged time.  But sounds like a super solid offer
