How many YOE (minimum) to get into AWS as an L5 as either a field rep or inside sales? L6?

Depends who's hiring. I've seen folks with barely any experience land L5 rep roles. The key is nailing your loop and ensuring you understand the LPs and having your stories tight and relevant.

On average a minimum of 5 years previous sales experience, you can go through one of the college ramp programs that can fast track the process to field sales however. Additionally, very few field sales teams hire L5's, typically you would move from DG, Inside Sales, Field sales but in my experience you would still need to be on track for an L6 promotion. There's no rhyme or reason and varies heavily depending on segment and even down to the individual team. I have seen reps with barely 3 YOE as L5 inside, but also saw reps that were 5 or 6 YOE as L6 field reps. If you come from a larger company (Oracle, Salesforce, Dell, etc.), you have a better chance at coming in at a higher level because of "experience working at a larger scale." It's a short sided way to look at it, I saw many extremely strong sellers at AWS that came from early stage startup environments. And those sellers were also usually coming in at a lower level than their larger company counterparts.

I came in as L5 ISR with 3 YOE.  The feedback I received from the recruiter who sent my offer letter said my interview stories were very solid.  It's all about how you interview.

I don't think I've seen any L5 field reps (I'm sure there are exceptions) but I see plenty of L6's in the ISR position.  DGR's cannot be L5 - only L4.  There's even some Inside Sales Managers who are L5.

L5 is probably 3 to 4 and L6 is 7+ YOE if external hires. Doing really well on the loop can get you up leveled.
