Do you think the Sales Org will get hit hard in the layoffs? I see Alteryx still has 10 Sales jobs open on their website? Still hiring? or stay away?

Stay away for now.  The reps that weren’t impacted by the layoff had cushy account bags and didn’t have to do much outbound prospecting.  There was definitely a lot of favoritism at play with management picking winners and losers.  The first line management team was gutted as well, so there will be a leadership shortage in the MM (Enterprise) segment for a while.

This only applies to the Enterprise segment.  Strategic and Global teams are a different story.

They just laid off 11% of the org. Focused mainly on sales teams, particularly the Enterprise segment.

The majority of the recent layoffs was the sales and marketing team.  They go through rounds of hiring every year and then a year later they cut 90% of the reps hired.

I would be cautious before joining the org and ask many questions as quota attainment is poor as well.

Just like the comments below Strat and up segments are the best to join.  These are the groups that really are just Account Managers working existing accounts to expand, so they don't have to prospect and if they do it's their BDR team who does most of the leg work.  I would say 80% of the deals sold in the last two years have been through existing accounts growth and not net new business.

As a member of the strategic sales team, I can understand the drive surrounding our larger clients.  Not only do those larger clients use the platform to truly transform their business, they are also more thoughtful about their technical footprints.  The smaller customers  have tighter financial constraints and in the current economic climate, it is hard to justify the growth needed to sustain that bench.

With that being said, if there is an opening in the large enterprise, strat, or global - I couldn't recommend this company more.  There are layoffs in tech day over day, Alteryx isn't immune to it, but they are working to future protect their business.

This isn't an easy sales role, this takes skill and determination...but it is a great company.

The org that got most impacted was enterprise new business that had small deals and the rep productivity was not high. For the most part the enterprise field and strategic or global roles were not affected. They’re placing bets on the remaining segments to increase productivity to still hit the quotas. The company is focusing on G2000 customers instead of smaller accounts.
