Question

I’m interviewing for the retail AE role, the salary is roughly $15k lower than my current pay but the OTE is $30k more.

How realistic is OTE on the retail side? What does the work load look like? Will it be 40-50 miserable hours per week in the field or is it a pretty relaxed environment?

Its field sales field sales with Toast, for their new retail market.... Toast owns 13% of the US Market....  You get a blank canvas to sell retail. Your base was already bad, but your OTE... 30k more.... still trash, but you will make more if you just go out and sell.

Workload, do you have a referral group, do you know the industry, do you understand all the tools to sell? field reps make 500k when they do the footwork and build the network. No sale is an easy sale and based off this question, you don't even know what you are doing and would be a quick PIP if hired. Know the industry and dont ask dumb questions when you just dont qualify

Expect 40+hrs/ week minimum with end of month closer to the 50+ range.

Retail is a pretty new avenue for Toast that many concepts aren’t even aware of so you will need to be in the territory consistently. Territory plays a big part as well with Toast being priced higher than competitors.

OTE completely depends on your TAM - if you are covering a high income area, then you can expect to be close to OTE
