How would you assess the effectiveness of Suse's leadership team in providing coaching and development for their sales staff? Based on your experiences with their leadership, would you recommend working in sales at Suse?

I wouldn't recommend joining the sales team unless you don't plan to progress in your career and wanted coaching/any sort of training. A lot of people on the sales team are boomers/gen x and are comfortable where they are in their career and don't want to get promoted, which is fine if that's what you want. There is literally no role specific training or onboarding, most people in sales have worked here for so long so they don't have any training processes in place. This would be a challenge for new joiners because SUSE has SO many products/services that they offer so to actually be familiar you would need to work here at least 5 years to get that level of training instead of getting it when you first join.

Also, if you are unhappy in your role they will act like they hear your concerns and will address it. Leadership doesn't like to make changes and if it were to happen it would happen in the next fiscal year, which likely won't even affect your role if you're still here by then.

Current Sales Leadership is absolutely abysmal.  Incompetent leadership in North America that is collectively a bunch of bullies, pompous, arrogant  and have no idea what they are doing.  They are destroying the customer base and not able to grow the business as they wish and need to do.  Came in with big plans and dreams-- complete failure.  Reps are quitting left and right.  Those that are left hate their jobs.  Either you play up to the 1990's playbook of beating up customers, acting like you are the only game in town or you leave.  There is no leadership, it's toxic and broken.  Is their coaching-- no!  Only threats and orders.  Would never recommend working at SUSE the way it is now.
