Smith and Nephew is a good company company and they focus on promoting from within. However in the past two years they have had two layoffs and several commission cuts. Great company culture and great people but like most Med/Tech companies it's all about the shareholder profits and making sure the reps take home the least amount of money. Each year they tweak the compensation plan to add some other variable to "maximize" payout which in return just makes it harder and harder to achieve. It was ok. They began to add headcount and cut everyone’s pay with no warning. Company culture of low performers and managers that just suck up to each other instead of doing what’s best for their teams.

Great organization, currently a lot of restructuring happening on the corporate end. We could improve with budget management, salary competitiveness, and incentives within the internal infrastructure. Also continue to work on awarding and praising good behavior.

I had a great experience with S&N. The leadership team is fantastic and the culture is very positive. The challenge I experienced was continued revenue growth. S&N has strong product in most segments but struggle in others.

S+N has exceptional culture and high level leadership. Love the products S+N offers. On the flip side, entry-level reps are paid lower than our competitors and total compensation currently isn’t market rate for 2024 with 4yrs experience in med device. I should note that I’ve stayed with the same company so that may be limiting my pay ceiling.

My overall experience was okay. I was doing others work and not being compensated for it. Upper management was great but direct management was super poor. Growth opportunity is possible, but the culture locally isn’t great.

Overall Smith & Nephew is a good company to work for. Quotas are realistic, although a shift to “buckets” has made full OTE and bonuses less realistic. 3/4 buckets is a reasonable expectation for most of the sales force, and there are several good resources to help with selling.

Personally love the company. Outside it’s a hard generation of pleasing everyone, I couldn’t ask for a better team of leaders and sales team. We are creating a culture that I didn’t think existed anymore, one where everyone hustles hard and looks out for one another. Earn your way and the sky is the limit, nothing is given but you can earn it.

Working for S+N has a lot of pros. Great team, market leading products, and a solid company history. I have found that the comp structure is very vague and always leaves you a year or two away from making real money ($180k++). I have consistently exceeded quota and been a major contributor on a 3 person team with a quota over $5m. My partners agree with my stem rents...Read More

Smith&Nephew is a great launching point for a medical sales career. I was in Sports Medicine, where the product line ranks up there with all of the big players. The training could be better, however, they encourage you to run your own business and learn at your own pace. If you can hustle and manage rejections well, you can thrive in this company
