Slalom
Back to ReviewsCurrent Employee Slalom is a great company that prides itself on being a 'best place to work', but it is not a Sales driven culture which can be a struggle. Leadership culture is engineering/consulting based, they value high quality delivery and believe it 'sells itself', there are disconnects with leaders that do not understand the value of Sales/account management activities that drive repeatable, larger client relationships. The immature and inconsistent go-to-market strategy, and weak sales enablement capability, results in spending a lot of time re-creating the wheel and teaching yourself how to differentiate Slalom to clients, taking time away from selling. On the flip side, if you enjoy sales strategy, and GTM planning, it's a very entrepreneurial role - there are many different paths to be successful, which I found refreshing after years at Product companies, this job allows you to get very creative! Another frustration is that the bonus-based pay structure has a lot of variables, that can be completely out of your control. You can have extreme success at performance goals, and potentially not get paid anyway, due to circumstances like the overall bonus pool being cut because overall company results are suffering.
