Back to ReviewsCurrent Employee Postgres is a phenomenal database solution that is now the equal or better than Oracle. The fact that it is open-source makes it a no-brainer for many companies. EDB has offered best in class support and services for Postgres for many years. However, within the last couple of years, they have tried to diversify by offering a cloud-service and an HA product. This diversification required the staffing up of many new positions. But in the end, these new services did not meet expectations and as a consequence, the company had to layoff a good portion of its workforce. The inevitable house cleaning resulted in pretty much the entire senior executive team being replaced, all within the last year. This has resulted in alot of internal confusion about the direction of the company and the attitude of most people is very glum. The feeling is that Bain Capital (majority owner) is trimming expenses in order to show a profit so they can sell the company.
