Avvo is aggressively mediocre. If you are new to sales entirely, it can be a good way to get a foot in the door, but it lost much of what made it a good place to work when it was acquired by Internet Brands in 2018 and the IB leadership is your typical office jockey stuck in the last century making reactively poor business decisions that ripple down every verticle. The product pricing has grown into its own worst enemy, with rates that are outrageous for what is delivered, and a stunning disconnect between the cost to the client and the actual business conversions they make. It appears Internet Brands is simply seeing how far they can push the line with their pricing before it collapses in on itself. The other legal indexes under Internet Brands are seeing the same treatment. This is a wider problem than Avvo, but it is the heart of what is sinking its reputation. Attorneys are not an easy audience. Expect an uphill fight.
