What is the work culture like for sales professionals at Indeed.com, and how does it impact their leadership and growth opportunities in the sales department?

Atmosphere is at an all time low, micro-management central, economy not in great condition, plenty of better opportunities out there. No successful new products in years so upsell opportunities are very.limited.

The culture is horrendous at Indeed. It always has been, and since the turn of the economy, it's simply been spotlighted more.

I don't a single employee in sales who is happy to be in their job, not fearful of losing their job at any given moment regardless of performance, or not fed up with being managed to an ever changing litany of incoherent and non-sensical metrics.

The entire leadership team, from the very top, to the lowest middle management, is comprised of people who jumped on the tech bubble rocket ship early, and have never let go. They expect "the same success they had" doing the same inputs (which, to be clear, was almost unnecessary in Indeed's heyday - you could have literally not sold anything and still overachieved every quarter), and have no or limited ability to train, motivate, or develop their teams as a result.

Because the business continues to shrink, there is no professional growth or development. Every leader there is clinging on to their role, and there is certainly no upward mobility unless someone  leaves. The "growth" opportunities are often superficial or entirely detrimental to your own work - eg, why take extra time out of your day to run a "leadership initiative" when there is no short or long term benefit (no learning, growth, or career prospects) when you could spend that time trying to hit ever more difficult quotas.

I would not recommend Indeed as a place to try to learn or grow your career. There is no one in the company who is happy to be there, and the consensus amongst the sales floor globally is that people are there to ride out the paycheck until the gravy train stops

The answers below are very accurate.  I've worked in a lot of sales roles over the past 20 years- never been so micromanaged and everyone feels like they are 1 or 2 bad quarters away from losing their job. Insane travel quotas every month, mandatory gong call reviews with your manager where they pick apart what you are saying on calls, with non stop presentations to prove your work. Run away from this company

Inside sales note - CA was relaxed, fun, collaborative, and the forgotten step-child. NY was more energetic, competitive, and intense. Stamford was somewhere in between. Growth in sales here is limited. (Join, train, ramp, fully ramp, senior AE) Done. Merit base raises on hourly from here. People can become Team Leads, like I did, and then Directors if there's an opening and you interview well. Outside of this, you could move upmarket. Sales at Indeed is great, easy when the market works well, and pays well. You will however plateau at some point. You'll wonder how to advance and your options are leadership or "Agency/NAM"
