Just got PIP’d. Any chance of surviving this? Manager says they want to help me get through it, but I haven’t seen anyone else come out successfully - should I be looking?

PIP is usually just a formality before they push you out. That said, if you REALLY want to stay, over-communicate everything, hit every metric, and make yourself annoying but indispensable. Otherwise, start job hunting ASAP.

You can generally tell what the motivations behind a PIP are by how your manager/the company treats you. Also, don’t accept the PIP until you’ve seen the metrics they want you to hit and agree they’re attainable (ie are others in the team hitting those same metrics). Once you sign a PIP, you’re agreeing to the claim that you’re underperforming and that if you fail to hit the metrics stated you can be fired without any recourse.

I've been on PIP twice at my current company. I landed on it because I started coasting and was making a lot of assumptions on the phones. Once I got back to basics and brought my activity back, it turned around. Focus on how you were successful in the last and implement that as quickly as possible.
