I’m burned out. I don't really want to sell any more. I’m tired of quotas and KPIs and endless phone calls. I’m exhausted, but I don’t have any other skills. What should I do?

Feeling a bit of this myself, so you are not alone! I've been asking friends in CS positions and Sales Engineer roles who find it enjoyable, with way less pressure and involvement in the day-to-day grind of outbound, albeit with less a chance to make good money. Following this post for some other wisdom and feedback from the community, but hang in there! I'm sure you'll land somewhere you really enjoy.

Depending on your skillset: - Account Manager - Renewals Manager - Sales Ops - Sales Engineering Also, I’m sure you have skills that lend well to other careers! A lot of big companies like banks have Client Relations or partnerships roles that could use your skillset but aren’t so metrics driven. Don’t sell yourself short! Sounds like you might need a break to get back on your A-game.

You’re for sure not alone. Sales can be a tough grind and if you’re not feeling progress it can burn you out. It won’t solve all your problems , start with writing a list of things within your current role and outside of your role that you like doing. Try to do more of that within your role. Current market is tough to make new moves so you may need lots of patience

+1 to the customer success path. CS comes in many flavors, some very close to Account Mgmt with renewal and upsell responsibility, others just renewal and upsell influence, others just renewal influence, etc.. could be worth doing some info interviewing with CSMs at your company (if they exist) AND elsewhere..again many different flavors. You also might reflect on what parts of your job you found energizing/flow-state-inducing. what type of work might allow you to focus more on those tasks/interactions/mindset?

This is what I - and several of my sales colleagues - did: Put some money beside, close the last few good deals - and then leave your job and take a few weeks or months of sabbatical. Recharge your batteries and enjoy life, travel, meet friends, spend time with yr family - and then search and find a new role once you‘re ready.
